So we’re 20 weeks. Halfway through. Just about five months along. And oh. my. gosh. it’s going by SO FAST now. I can remember feeling so pregnant and tired. I went through what my work calls an Annual Outage during my first trimester. During the Annual Outage, we all work around 12 hours a day until the outage is done, so I worked around 22-24 straight days. It was awful because I was also super sick, so I remember waking up around day 12 or so on a Saturday, staring at the ceiling, and asking my husband, “How much do I need this job?”
He was like, “Um, kind of badly…”. Which isn’t strictly true, but is true in the sense that I LOVE my job and my team, and so it had less to do with the actual work, and much more to do with the fact that I thought I might barf at any given second if I moved around too quickly. At that time, every day felt long.
Now, at 20 weeks, the weeks are FLYING by! I felt the kit the other day and it was the strangest feeling in the world. We leave for Greece for vacation on Saturday, and I’m looking forward to it, but also curious to see how the baby handles it, too!
How big is the kit? The size of a banana. We went to the doctor today (Wednesday) and are ready to share exciting news… it’s a GIRL!!! My husband is over the moon excited.
Total weight gain/loss? I’m up around 12 lbs, I think? I honestly have a hard time knowing because I don’t weigh myself a lot anymore. But my numbers are good and my OB is happy!
Maternity clothes? Nope, just my normal clothes! I might need to start looking at an extender thing for my jeans… a pair of my smaller jeans fit everywhere except RIGHT at the front where they button lol!
Sleep? The best thing ever. Oh man, pregnancy sleep hits different than every other sleep. It also might have something to do with my lovely pregnancy pillow that my best friend Ellie gave me. I’m in love with it. I like to use it to give myself boundaries. I was mad at Josh the other night (fake mad) and he tried to come over to cuddle me, and I was like “You’re not allowed in the boundary of the pregnancy pillow until you bring me chocolate.” It was a win-win for me.
Best moment this week? We’re going to announce the baby to social media and all of our missed friends tomorrow, but for now, seeing baby girl swim around during our last ultrasound was the BEST. Also, my parents were able to come in for the appointment, so it was AMAZING having them there with us!
Symptoms? Just cravings when they hit, and then getting sleepy at the end of the day. I have great energy while I’m going, but at the end of the day, I CRASH.
Food cravings? Still salads and fruit and ice cream. I literally hoarded ranch dressing from a restaurant so I could take it home and put it on my own salad.
Food aversions? Still steak, unfortunately. I tried with my best friend at work, but it still didn’t sit well with me.
Labor signs? NO, and hopefully not for a VERY long time!
Belly button in or out? In!
What I miss? Beer, and wine, and cocktails. Though I recommend the Heineken 0 alcohol beer!
What I’m looking forward to? Feeling the baby move more and more!
Milestones? 20 weeks! Halfway there! Also I’ve been singing Living on a Prayer because that’s the kind of person I am. Oh well.
