Welcome, Spring, I am so glad to see you.
The south has gone through some highs and lows (in temperatures, I mean), but I think we’re just about at the end of the cold weather. It’s rainy today but overall not too cold and some days are absolutely gorgeous.
I’ve said it before, but I’m a warm weather girl. I was born and raised in New Mexico, and a big piece of my heart is still in that state. New Mexico has similar weather to the south with two or three significant differences. The first: humidity. Humidity is not really a thing in New Mexico, so that’s been fun to deal with (#sarcasm). The second: wind. Like, it’s windy here. For sure. But wind in New Mexico with all of that dirt/sand is a whole other level. Third: sun. Of course we have sun here but it’s not the same. Here, the air is warm anyway (humidity, again), not just in the sun. In New Mexico, the difference between sun and shade can be like 20 degrees.
We’ve gone through several springs now, but every time, I get excited to see this beautiful weather and see all of the flowers blooming. It just makes me want to throw open my windows and clean out my closets (Mom, your lessons are really starting to show me just how deeply you taught me to spring clean!).
This weekend was one of my first out of our work busy period, and it was glorious. First, I got my oil changed. I go to this place in the town where I work, which has a shop cat, and it’s my favorite part of the entire experience. She sits on top of the paperwork so she can get some petting, and then tries to attack the receipt as it’s printing. It’s my favorite thing.
Josh and I also went to get ice cream, because the weather was so lovely I couldn’t help but want to be outside. Earlier, I had told Josh I wish we had a convertible (like, 2 months of the year) because the weather was just so gorgeous. So Josh put down all of the windows and opened up the sunroof and it was so sweet and lovely.
This weekend, I’m going shopping with my best friend and maybe going to get a facial. On Sunday, my dad arrives! He’s driving in Josh’s truck that has been in New Mexico for a while, and I’m VERY excited to see him. He’s only here for a few days, but in that time, we’re going to eat some southern food and then go see a pre-season Braves game. He’s a big baseball fan, so we’re excited about it!
It was a wonderful weekend, and I’m already looking forward to the next. Isn’t that how it always goes? Hope you have a wonderful week!
