Twas the week before Christmas
And all through the house
All the creatures were stirring
Because nothing was ready and the presents weren’t wrapped and the house needed to be cleaned
The end!
Is that how the story goes? Because that’s how it’s going in my house! We’re just about a week out from Christmas, and in some ways, I’m so ready for it. I’ve been listening to Christmas music, watching holiday movies, decorated our tree and our house, enjoyed all kinds of shopping trips, and celebrated with my leadership team Christmas dinner, which went wonderfully.
Then Sunday, my best friend and I celebrated #treatyoself2017 with brunch, cocktails, massages and Starbucks. It was a wonderful time to just relax and have some girl time. Josh’s dad, sister and grandma are coming out to see us (we’ve just met them for the first time, and that’s a huge, completely separate story), and then his brother and his girlfriend (whom we love, and also just met for the first time, as part of the other huge story) are coming out to Atlanta on December 27. We are very, very much looking forward to having them, but it’s also a lot: a lot of people in our house at one time, a lot of new faces, and a lot of quality time. It’ll be great, I’m sure, but still a lot of upfront work.
Josh’s family will be here for just about a week total, and then immediately after, my parents, sister, brother-in-law, and nieces will be out here for another week. It’ll be a fun, family-filled time! I’m excited to have this time with them all, and for us to get to know Josh’s family together.
One of my biggest issues, however, is cooking. Josh and I pretty much split the household duties, depending on what we’re making or who gets home first, but we just cook for us. By that I mean, we make things like lemon salmon or chicken pesto that’s good for like, 4 servings. How do you cook for 8 people, three of them men? Any tips or recipes that are hearty enough for a lot of people and not exhausting?
Either way, we’ll have a wonderful time figuring it out! Wish me luck!
